Dear Postgrad
Wanderer, your footsteps
are the road, and nothing more;
wanderer, there is no road,
the road is made by walking.
By walking one makes the road,
and upon glancing behind
one sees the path
that never will be trod again.
Wanderer, there is no road–
Only wakes upon the sea.
Caminante, son tus huellas
el camino, y nada más;
caminante, no hay camino,
se hace camino al andar.
Al andar se hace camino,
y al volver la vista atrás
se ve la senda que nunca
se ha de volver a pisar.
Caminante, no hay camino,
sino estelas en la mar.

Dear Wanderer,
I would like to think that you have had a deep and sublime experience with the arts, be it in performing arts, visual arts, literary arts and the like.
Like me, you might think that the aesthetic experience is something others could experience as well, but you are not sure how to go about doing it.
You may not “teach” the arts in the traditional sense.
Or you may.
Your “students” could be audiences, gallery visitors, or communities.
Or they could be, in the traditional classroom context.
They don’t matter so much at this stage because you know you want to touch them in some way, to inspire them through the arts and to, perhaps, bring insight to their surroundings, their contexts, their sense of agency.
And so, it is.
At the Master’s Programme in Arts Pedagogy and Practice, we open up the space for critical reflection and reflexivity into the art forms. We discuss issues around creativity and imagination. But we also want to look at how to teach it, the educational models, the philosophies, the approaches, the curriculum design of things. And yes, even assessments in the arts.
We explore interdisciplinarity so that you have a chance to observe in and work with new art forms that can change your own practice. Or your own methodology.
Because things, people, states are constantly in flux.
So, learning to be adaptable is key.
